Firefighters rescued a woman from a fire in her home in
Farnworth this morning.
When crews arrived at around 6.25am, the resident was trapped in
her bedroom as the house was full of smoke.
Fortunately Amy Toy from the Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue
Service control room kept her on the phone while they were
en-route, giving her life-saving advice and providing
Watch Manager Kevin Wright said: "She did a fantastic job
keeping her calm until we got there.
"When we arrived she was at the front bedroom window, clearly
distressed. We immediately broke in through the front door,
extinguished the fire, cleared the smoke and led her to
Firefighters from Farnworth and were at the scene in Buckley
Lane for an hour.
The cause of the fire is now under investigation.
