PC Rathband

Another Special said it better than i, I’ve never felt so bad for someone I didn’t know. He wasn’t some high and mighty hero character, he was just a decent bloke and decent copper.

The man has been dragged through the mud, his family problems have been spread across the news and his private life sold as a commodity. The man was blinded, his life changed forever, he must have changed and his family must noticed this. Having experienced severe change in my family, I can totally understand how families fall apart in the face of fear and loss.

My old man was very ill before he died, he completely changed and I did not recognise him. This scared me. I rejected him and I pretended nothing was wrong. My father felt the rejection and was scorned by it, he didn’t understand but I was petrified of the person he had become, it was like living with a stranger and a very unpleasant time of my life.

So I completely sympathize with his wife and kids, its scary; change and causes rifts. All I can say is rest in peace friend, the people that matter will remember you for alp the right reasons.
