On the 2nd January 2014 at 20-02 hours there was a fire within an air conditioning unit at Windsor Castle. (Incident 8220).
There was damage to the unit itself plus significant smoke-logging. The opportunity for potential fire spread within this historic building was reflected in the attendance. This involved appliances from Windsor, Slough and Langley, plus a specialist vehicle from Reading and an aerial appliance from Hayes (‘Royal’ Berkshire Brigade recently scrapped the aerial appliance which was previously based at Slough).
Despite the significance of this fire, it drew no media attention? No surprise then as the political controversy surrounding future fire cover in the town remains secretive!
