On September 14th 2012, three members of South Shires Bikers Motorcycle Club will ride from John O’Groats to Lands End within a strict 24hr time period to raise funds for Hampshire and Isle of Wight Air Ambulance. This follows on from last years 1000-mile 24hr challenge which two riders completed, raising £600 for HIOWAA.
The riders will travel up to John O’Groats in the two days before the challenge, leaving for Land’s End on the Friday morning. Weather and traffic permitting, this will require several staged rides averaging 1hr 10mins in length, with breaks of around 30 minutes. Total distance is 842 miles. The expected total riding time is just over 16 hours.
In total, including the journey up to John O’Groats and the trip home afterwards, the total event mileage is expected to be in excess of 1800 miles. The individual riders will cover all costs incurred in staging the event, with all money raised going straight to the charity. We had a great time last year on this event and can’t wait to get going again. Well done HIOWAA for all the superb work you do. South Shires Bikers MCC will continue to support this worthy charity. I can’t believe that this is not centrally funded!
