Happy New Year from the streets of Hartford!
Last night coming back from the hospital after our ninth and last transport of the shift, fireworks burst in the sky above the capitol.
I first tried to take a picture through our windshield, but the light caught all the dried snow and city dirt on the windshield and illuminated our dark compartment.
And I thought then of fireworks bursting all over our planet, lighting up the night skies, and each tiny light falling down to the earth, and sparkling for a brief moment in front of each of my brothers and sisters out there protecting their cities and towns on this first night of the coming new year.
Brothers and sisters, carry those lights in your heart, and spread their warmth into every house you enter, every patient you comfort, every life you touch.
Stay safe always, you and your families.
