David Morris, the Conservative Party MP for Morecambe and Lunesdale, has submitted a motion in Parliament opposing cuts to Lancashire Fire and Rescue Service.
In Early Day Motion 1326, Morris asks the House of Commons to note “the fantastic work Lancashire Fire and Rescue Service crews” in his constituency and “the vast amount of public safety work” that they carry out.
The motion then “deplores Lancashire Fire Authority’s decision to remove an appliance from Lancaster fire station.”
John McDonnell, Labour Party MP for Hayes and Harlington and secretary of the FBU Parliamentary Group, has also added his name to the motion as a sponsor.
Lancashire Fire and Rescue Service has said that the station must lose on of its two fire engines and half of its 48 firefighters in order to help find £5m of savings.
