The union’s Vice President, Bro. Jim Barbour has today retired from the Fire and Rescue Service and therefore also from his Executive Council position and national offices in the FBU.
An election has already been held for this position – i.e. that of Vice President (elect). I can therefore confirm that Bro. Ian Murray, Executive Council Member for Yorkshire and Humberside, today takes up office as Vice President.
On behalf of all members I would like to thank Jim Barbour for his many years of service to the union within Northern Ireland and at a UK level and wish him well for the future. I am sure all members will also join me in wishing Bro. Murray best wishes in his new role as Vice President.
