Lincoln & District Trade Union Congress are protesting £1.3M cuts to Lincolnshire Fire and Rescue.
Supported by the Fire Brigades Union in Lincolnshire, a protest will be held Thursday 18 December from 6:30pm at the gate of the Lincoln Christ Hospital School on Wragby Road, prior to the start of a consultation meeting on the proposed cuts.
Lincolnshire Fire Authority is consulting on slashing the number of firefighters and reducing service cover at night, increasing 999 emergency response times.
Dan Taylor, brigade secretary of the FBU in Lincolnshire, said: “These cuts in Lincolnshire are wide spread and impact on every single community in the county.
“Lowering crews on fire engines, lowering officer numbers and increasing response times within the ever growing city of Lincoln is dangerous for the public.
“The people of Lincolnshire need to have their say.â€
Nick Parker, secretary of Lincolnshire & District TUC, said: “These cuts proposals are dangerous. We agree with the FBU that they could put lives at risk.
“What adds insult to injury is that the consultation meeting about these cuts are taking place just before the and after the Christmas period.
“There is one meeting in Lincoln uphill when the buses have stopped. It’s as if the fire authority doesn’t want people to attend the meeting.â€
