YOUNG boxers at Moss Side Fire Station Boxing Club have been
given a boost after a generous donation from the Lord Mayor of
Manchester's charity We Love MCR.
Lord Mayor of Manchester, Councillor Sue Cooley, visited the gym
personally to hand over a cheque for Â£2000, see the facilities and
meet the young people who use them.
She said: "The We Love MCR charity has always aimed to improve
the lives and life chances of Manchester People.
"This goal fits perfectly with the work being by done Moss Side
Fire Station Boxing Club, which is run by fire fighters who
volunteer their own time and skills to help young people in the

commitment to young people and Moss Side that is truly deserving of
the support of the We Love MCR Charity and I'm proud we have been

Moss Side Fire Station Boxing Club was founded to improve the
relationships between firefighters and young people in Moss

courage - principles which make great firefighters and boxers

Manchester and the We Love MCR Charity.
"This money will make a real difference to the boxing club. It
will help us buy more equipment and make the club more affordable
for the young people of Moss Side.
"Moss Side Fire Station Boxing Club is run by volunteers, so
donations like this really help us to continue our work and improve
the life prospects of so many young people who come through our
