MANCHESTER'S Community Safety Team and firefighters took
part in the recent Birchfields Park Fun Day.
They were supported by Community Action Team Volunteers and they
were able to put on caged football for the youngsters at the
Mascot Cracker made a couple of appearances and helped sign
people up for Home Safety Checks.
Around 60 young people took part in the caged football with
Community Safety Advisor Anwar Gulzar and coach Luke Stanton.
Various community organisations were involved in the day
including housing associations, music groups and church groups.
The local councillors attended as did MP Gerald Kaufman and all
went over to see the community safety team and spend some time
finding out about the work they were doing.
