So where are we now?
As we approach the 20th anniversary of the Windsor Castle blaze (20th November) discussions ensue between the Royal Berkshire Fire and Rescue Service and the Royal Borough Council of Windsor and Maidenhead.
These talks will centre upon the provision of fire cover for Windsor, in particular the location and costs regarding to the provision of a new fire station to the west of Windsor. Another issue will be whether the new station is independent and has its own dedicated crew, or is merely a base operated from Slough fire station.
What we do know is that the Royal Borough Council (via Council Tax payment) furnishes a lot of money to the Royal Berkshire Fire Authority each year.
Therefore it is not unreasonable to expect a full level of service for the people of Windsor within a highly unusual station area as far as risk factors are involved (Windsor Castle, tourism, major events, hotels, barracks, Legoland, the race course, the river Thames, etc, etc)?
