A stable fire at Drift Road, Maidenhead on 09 March became an incident which, once more, drained east Berkshire fire resources.
Appliances from Maidenhead, Windsor, Slough and Bracknell attended the well alight stable from 00-53 hours. An operational support unit, plus a Control Unit were also sent from Reading. Appliances were at the scene for up to 3 hours.
To ‘fill the gaps’, the remaining Slough appliance was sent to standby (provide cover) at Maidenhead. Then the Langley appliance was sent to standby at Slough thereby covering 3 large station grounds, namely Slough, Langley and Windsor.
Now contemplate how vulnerable east Berkshire would be if Windsor Fire Station was closed?
