If Windsor Fire Station is CLOSED the ‘Royal’ Berkshire Fire and Rescue Service Plans to use Slough appliances to cover Windsors vast station ground? (as well as their own station area?)
But that concept is seriously defective for several reasons;
1. Slough may NOT be available, since thay are a busy station with a large station area.
2. Slough will have greater travel distances along the busy Relief Road to get to Windsor. Time equates to loss of life, injury and damage to property when it comes to emergencies.
3. Slough would subsquently lose its fire cover as a result of its fire appliances being committted elsewhere.
4. Windsor often back Slough up.
Point 4 (above) can be observed in the fiollowing example, of which many are posted upon this Blog:
On 06 April at 21-12 hours the Windsor fire crews were called to assist at a ‘make pumps four’ house fire at Knolton Way, Slough. This serious incident was also attended by both of the Slough pumping appliances, plus Langley. The Windsor appliance was at the scene of the blaze until 00-40 hours.
So it is abundantly clear that east Berkshire fire cover can be diminished within minutes, yet the Brigade are still pushing to CLOSE Windsor Fire Station?
If you are a member of the public in east Berkshire, please hear our concerns – the safety of you and your family may be compromised in the future if there is any reduction in the level of the current emergency service.
So, run that one by me again..?
