The Head of the Provincial Reconstruction Team, or PRT, in Helmand says the challenges faced there will take many years to address. It’s faced much criticism for slow progress, which has failed to keep up with the military effort.
Michael O’Neill said transition to Afghan security control in 2014 will not spell the end of the PRT, which will continue to provide assistance for many years to come. Charlotte Cross of British Forces News spoke to him in Helmand’s capital Lashkar Gah and asked about the transition of security.
