A Staffordshire police officer has been charged with four counts of misconduct in public office, following an investigation managed by the Independent Police Complaints Commission.
The charges relate to allegations that while on duty he engaged in sexual acts with different women on four occasions between 2007 and 2012.
Pc Adam Rushton, 36, has also been charged with three Data Protection Act offences of obtaining personal data without consent.
Pc Rushton is due to appear at Birmingham Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday 13 May.
The alleged offences relate to when the officer was serving at Longton Police Station.
Following a referral from Staffordshire Police to the IPCC last year, we decided to manage the investigation being carried out by the force. The Crown Prosecution Service gave authority earlier this week for charges against Pc Rushton to be brought.
