Mark Murphy, aged 33 from Caledonian Close, Barrow, has been sentenced today at Barrow Crown Court to four years.
At 1:50 am on Wednesday 8thÂ January 2014, police officers observed a silver BMW driving without any lights and on checking, had no insurance.
They stopped the vehicle and when they attempted to approach the driver, he drove off at speed. The officers followed and stopped him a short while later.
They observed the driver, identified as Mark Murphy, throw an object in to the passenger foot well, which was identified as a dry stun gun. On further searching the vehicle, a quantity of drugs were found, Including cocaine, amphetamine, crack cocaine and cannabis.
Murphy pleaded guilty earlier in court and was sentenced for dangerous driving, possession of a prohibited weapon and possession with intent to supply Class B and Class C drugs.
Detective Constable Jamie Eaton said: â€œWe are cracking down on all drug misuse in Cumbria. It is not only the suppliers we aim to bring to justice but those who are in possession of these drugs.
â€œWe continue to work to ensure the safety of our communities and by checking on suspicious activity, we are able to arrest, charge and bring those before the court who involved in drugs.â€
