Police are able to confirm that the woman who was found dead in a property on Napier Street, Barrow, was Rebecca Carmella Marvin, aged 25 from Barrow.
At 9:42 am on 18thÂ May 2014, the North West Ambulance Service notified the police of a sudden death. Miss Marvin was sadly found dead in a house on Napier Street.
Detectives launched an investigation into the circumstances of her death.
A man, aged 68, from Barrow, was arrested on suspicion of murder and continues to be detained at Barrow Police Station.
Detective Chief Inspector Bob Qazi, said: â€œWe are investigating a number of aspects regarding the events leading up to the death of Miss Marvin. The post mortem has been conducted today, with further tests being required before a cause of death can be confirmed.
â€œWe are appealing for anyone who may have been in the vicinity of Napier Street on Saturday night (17thÂ May 2014) into Sunday (18thÂ May 2014) morning and may have heard or seen an argument between a man and a woman.
â€œWe are continuing to investigate a number of avenues and any information from the public may assist in establishing the events that resulted in the death of Miss Marvin. I would ask anyone who has information on Miss Marvinâ€™s movements over the past weekend to please contact us at the CID in Barrow as soon as possible.
â€œOfficers are in contact with her family and are supporting them at this difficult time.â€
