Police have arrested three men from the Sheffield area this morning, Thursday 12 June 2014, in connection with a brawl in Piccadilly Gardens.
Detectives are now working with their colleagues in South Yorkshire to interview the men and further the investigation.
The brawl happened at about 3pm on Saturday 31 May 2014 when groups of men, totalling around 15, squared up to each other in Piccadilly Gardens.
A large scale fight broke out and police were called to the scene.
Upon officers arrival the offenders had dispersed. There were no reports of any injuries, either to those involved or passersby and no reports of damage to any nearby shops.
Three men aged 25, 26 and 29 have been arrested in Sheffield for Violent Disorder offences.
Chief Inspector Faz Zaman said: “These arrests clearly demonstrate that violence will not be tolerated on the streets of Manchester and the police will act to bring those responsible to justice no matter where they live”
“Working with South Yorkshire Police we have identified a number of men who are believed to have been involved in the brawl and further arrests will follow”
“Detectives are continuing to review footage of the fight and I encourage anyone who may have filmed it to get in touch with us so that all those responsible may be identified and brought to justice”
