The National Black police association are today mourning the loss of one of their own.
Glen Williams has sadly passed away as a result of liver cancer a year after he losing his wife.
Glenn was born in Nottingham in 1957, joined Nottinghamshire Police in 1985 and was the first black detective in Nottingham CID.
In 2001 he was elected as chair of Nottinghamshire Black Police Association
In 2005 he was elected as deputy president of the National Black Police Association
Glen Williams came into his own when a group of Asian officers asked him to be a co-respondent in an industrial tribunal held to investigate allegations of racism within CID. The case became a landmark victory against discrimination in the police service.
A spokesperson for NBPA Said “We would like to express our deepest condolences to Glen’s family, friends and close colleagues.
