A man has been charged after a bogus call was made to emergency services claiming a flat was on fire.
William Michael Bowden (born 05/12/1965), of Bosden Walk, Hillgate, Stockport, is charged with an offence of cause to be sent by public communication network a false message to cause annoyance, inconvenience and or anxiety.
He is due before Stockport Magistrates’ Court on 17 July 2014.
At about 8.50am on 13 June 2014, a hoax call was made to the North West Fire and Rescue Service and Greater Manchester Police reporting that a flat on Lincoln Towers in Stockport was on fire and the building was engulfed in smoke.
Two fully crewed fire engines, a double crewed ambulance and three police officers attended the flat but no fire was discovered.
A 48-year-old man who was intoxicated at the scene was subsequently arrested.
