Police are warning people to watch out for illegitimate charity collectors in Manchester City Centre.
Over the last few weeks, a group of teenagers have been posing as charity collectors for reputable charities.
The boys have been walking around the city with bogus sponsor forms for The Christie hospital. Â We have spoken to the hospital who have said they have not authorised these collections.
Sergeant Sarah O’Driscoll from North Manchester division, said:  “There are many legitimate charities fundraising for good causes – every pound lost to a scam charity is a pound less that can be donated to a reputable cause.
“These boys have been posing as genuine charity collectors for reputable organisations, the boys are in their early teens and no charity would allow anyone under the age of 18 to fund raise for them on their own.
“Those who wish to donate to charity should check the legitimacy of the fundraiser before donating.  It is important to ask for identification, check if they are registered with the Charity Commission and do not give out personal details unless you are satisfied the person is genuine.
“If anyone has any information or concerns about the incidents, please contact police on 101.â€Â
