Following a fast time intelligence-led operation, detectives from the Flying Squad have, this morning, Wednesday, 23 July, arrested four people who were in the process of a smash and grab robbery at Parmigiani in Mount Street, W1.
At approximately 10:59hrs the men arrived at the scene on two mopeds.
The pillion passengers alighted and began to attack the front of the shop with hammers, breaking glass, but before they could enter they were arrested by officers.
One was arrested at the scene and three others nearby.
Three of the arrested males [A - 16ys; B -18ys; C -18ys] are currently in central London police stations. The fourth [D - 17ys] has been taken to a London hospital with a minor hand injury.
Detective Chief Inspector Paul Johnson, Flying Squad, said: â€œThis morning’s arrests are another successful operation by the Metâ€™s Flying Squad who are committed to tackling smash and grab robberies. This type of offence is not a victimless crime and we will continue to pursue relentlessly those who persist in committing robbery.
“I hope that this morning’s operation and recent arrests and convictions the Flying Squad have secured send a strong message of deterrent to would-be-robbers, that they will be identified and brought to justice.”
