A man has been charged after Â£30 was stolen from a disabled pensioner while she was using a cash machine.
Adam Lawler (born 12/05/1985), of Cravenwood Road, Reddish, Stockport, is charged with theft from a meter / automatic machine and is due before Stockport Magistratesâ€™ Court on 31 July 2014.
The theft happened at about 2pm on 18 July 2014 on London Road, Hazel Grove, Stockport.
The 67-year-old woman, who is partially disabled and walks with an aid, was withdrawing all that was left from her bank account when the cash was swiped from under her nose before she could put it in her purse.
Police Constable Nick Williams said: “I would like to thank everyone for the overwhelming response we had to our press appeal, which has resulted in a man being arrested and charged.
“This matter will now be put before the courts so I am unable to comment further other than to reiterate the thanks on behalf of both myself and the victim for the response we have had from the public.”
