Police investigating a serious assault, where a man was left with a shoeprint mark on his face after being stamped on, have released CCTV images of five people they would like to speak to.
An arrest has already been made in connection with the offence, which happened on Sutton Coldfield High Street at around 2.05am on Saturday 26 July.
The 35-year-old was with two of his friends in the Royal Hotel when they were approached by a group who smashed bottles over their heads. During the assault, the man fell to the floor and was stamped upon.
“As well as a stamp mark, he also suffered substantial bruising to his face,” said Detective Constable Mike Wright, “while his two friends also received cuts and bruises in the assault.”
He added: “There appears to have been an altercation between the two groups earlier on in the evening, and we’re keen to speak to the five men in these images.
“As part of the investigation a 23-year-old man was arrested soon after the assault on suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm and is currently on police bail pending further enquiries.”
Anyone who knows the identity of the people in the images should call police on 101, or the independent charity Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
