Police continue to appeal for witnesses and information following the murder of a grandfather in Notting Hill.
Tony Charlery, 59, died in Portobello Road W11 at around 0045hrs on Saturday, 30 August. He had been stabbed in the street shortly before midnight.
A post-mortem examination held at Westminster Mortuary on 30 August gave the cause of death as a stab wound to the neck.
While officers await formal identification, they are satisfied the dead man is Anthony (known as Tony) Charlery aged 59, (17/1/55) of Earls Court Road, W8. Next of kin have been informed.
The murder investigation is being led by Detective Chief Inspector Nicola Wall of the Homicide & Major Crime Command.
DCI Wall said: “On Friday 29 August, Tony went alone to the Mau Mau bar in Portobello Road W11. He was only inside the venue for a short while and was stabbed as he left. Tony received the fatal wound as he tried to run away from his attackers.
“I appeal to anyone who knows the identity of the persons involved to call detectives. Tony was a local man and a much loved grandfather. His family are devastated by his death in such a brutal way.
“As I believe the two suspects to be local men, I especially appeal to the Notting Hill community for help.”
