Detectives are continuing to investigate the circumstances surrounding an assault in Lowestoft which has left a woman with severe facial burns. A 22-year-old local woman had been walking along London Road South shortly before 8:30am on Thursday 14 August when a substance was thrown in her face. She was taken to James Paget Hospital by paramedics before being transferred to another hospital where she remains in a stable condition. On Wednesday 10 September, a 47-year-old man was arrested at his home address in Lowestoft in connection with the assault and later released on police bail until Thursday 16 October pending further enquiries. A 25-year-old man from the town is also on police bail after having been arrested in connection with this investigation. He is due to return to a police investigation centre on Wednesday 5 November while further enquiries are carried out. Leon Thompson is currently remanded in court custody prior to his appearance at Ipswich Crown Court on Friday 7 November. The 38-year-old unemployed man from Alma Road has been charged with one count of throwing a corrosive fluid with intent to disfigure and cause Grievous Bodily Harm. |
