Police have made two further arrests in connection with the incident – a 16-year-old boy on suspicion of murder and a 16-year-old girl on suspicion of GBH. Both are currently helping police with enquiries.
Two teenage men previously arrested – a 19-year-old on suspicion of wounding with intent to commit GBH and an 18-year-old on suspicion of murder – have both been bailed pending further enquiries.
Police are continuing to investigate the death of Lee Devlin, from Charles Avenue, in Whitley Bay, after he was found with head injuries next to a walkway near the town’s Metro station before being pronounced dead at North Tyneside Hospital on Friday, September 12.
Lee travelled by Metro from Howdon on Friday evening and arrived at Whitley Bay Metro station at 9.45pm. Â It’s believed he was then outside the Metro station for a short time. Â
Officers are asking for help from the public to piece together what happened after 9.45pm and when he was found with injuries just before 11pm.
A post mortem examination has been carried out and the results are inconclusive.
