Police are investigating after mobile phones were stolen in Trafford.
The first incident happened at 12.20pm on Saturday 9 August 2014 when a man went into Jordans estate agents on The Downs in Altrincham claiming to be collecting for deaf charities.
He distracted the victim by pointing at adverts on the wall before taking a mobile phone from a tray. He left the shop towards Altrincham bus station.
The second happened around 1.15pm the same day at Nico and Tino Hairdressers on Ashton Lane in Sale.
A man came into the shop purporting to be collecting for deaf charities. He pointed at the wall behind the receptionist. When she turned around, he leant over the counter and took a mobile phone before leaving in the direction of Ashton Village.
Both men are described as Eastern European.
Police are appealing for information and witnesses.
Police Constable Stuart Foy said: “There may well be other similar incidents in the area where nothing was taken or the victim has not noticed anything to be missing. I would ask anyone who has had a similar experience in the Trafford area to call police.
“If anyone has any information about who is responsible or who witnessed anything suspicious I would ask that they get in touch.”
Anyone with information should call police on 0161 856 7530 or the independent charity Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
