An officer attached to Specialist Crime and Operations has been dismissed for gross misconduct following a hearing on Wednesday, 12 November.
The 52-year-old officer faced allegations of gross misconduct of honesty and integrity, orders and instructions, confidentiality and discreditable conduct. These were in relation to the supplying of confidential information to a journalist.
The Directorate of Professional Standards led the investigation which was supervised by the IPCC.
The panel found the case of gross misconduct to be proven.
The officer was subsequently dismissed without notice.
