Police have re-issued an appeal for information following an incident in Dane End which left an elderly woman with a broken hip.
The incident happened in Green End Road at around 7pm on Thursday, October 9.
The victim, an 89-year-old woman, was walking with her carer, using a Zimmer frame, when a group of boys wearing hoodies and Halloween masks ran out towards her from behind a property, shouting and yelling ‘boo’.
The woman was startled and fell to the ground, breaking her hip.
The boys, believed to be aged around 14-15 years old, then jumped onto their bikes and rode off towards Munden Church. One of them was thought to be wearing a mask from the film ‘Scream’.
Detective Constable Tom Hardy, from the Hertford Local Crime Unit, said: “Unfortunately the victim has not recovered well from her terrible ordeal and still remains in hospital more than two months on from the incident. Her family has been left deeply distressed by what has happened and are upset that she won’t be spending Christmas with them at home.
“I am appealing again for information to help trace these boys as soon as possible and would urge anyone who knows them to get in contact with me immediately.
“I would also like to hear from anyone who thinks they may have seen this group in the area at the time or who has any other information about this incident.â€
Anyone with information is asked to contact DC Hardy via the Hertfordshire Constabulary non-emergency number 101.
