A 22-year-old man has been charged with assisting an offender in relation to a firearms discharge which occurred in Widnes in October.
Jordan Grimes, aged 22, from Burnley, appeared before Runcorn Magistrates Court today (Wednesday 24 December 2014) and was remanded in custody.
The incident happened at 9.45pm on Wednesday 15 October 2014 outside a property in St Michaelâ€²s View, Widnes. A firearm was discharged resulting in a 25-year-old local man receiving injuries to his abdomen and leg. He underwent surgery, and is recovering after hospital treatment.
A 19-year-old man has been charged with attempted murder, possession of a shotgun and possession of a firearm with intent in relation to the incident. He has appeared in court and remanded in custody.
Two boys, aged 16, who were arrested in connection with the investigation have been released with no further action taken against them.
A further four arrests have since been made in connection with the investigation.
Two men, both aged 18, have been arrested on suspicion of conspiracy to commit murder. Two men aged 18 and 19 have been arrested on suspicion of assisting an offender.
The four have been released on bail pending further enquiries.
