Detectives investigating the rape of a woman in Bolton are trying to trace a Good Samaritan who came to her aid and drove her home following the attack.
Sometime between 7am and 8am on Sunday 7 December 2014, the victim, a 32-year-old woman, was in a distressed state on Chorley New Road, Bolton, having been raped by two men in a nearby address.
She flagged down a man who was driving a black Mercedes and he took her home.
The man is described only as white with a slim face. He was unshaven with dark hair, shaved at the sides and spiky on top and spoke with a Bolton accent.
Two men, aged 23 and 25 have been arrested on suspicion of rape and bailed pending further enquiries.
Detectives are also keen to speak to anyone else who may have seen the woman in the area following the attack.
Detective Constable Kelly Paterson, said: “The woman was clearly distressed and the man we are looking came to her aid and drove her home.
“He is likely to be a key witness and may hold important information so it is therefore imperative we trace him, so I would encourage him or anyone who knows him to contact us.
“We believe there may also have been other people in the area, either on foot or in a car before this man picked her up and we are also keen to speak to these people.â€
Anyone with information is asked to call police on 0161 856 1068 or 0161 856 1329.
