Officers from the Metropolitan Police Counter Terrorism Command (SO15) have arrested a man today on suspicion of commission, preparation or instigation of acts of terrorism.
On Monday 5 January, at approx at 22:00hrs local officers from Newham arrested a 32-year-old man in Stratford on suspicion of possession of an offensive weapon. He was taken to an east London police station where he remains in custody.
Officers carried out a search of a residential address in east London as part of the investigation.
On Tuesday 6 January, at approximately 15:00hrs officers from the Met’s SO15 Counter Terrorism Command arrested the 32-year-old man on suspicion of being concerned in the Commission, Preparation or Instigation of Acts of Terrorism contrary to Section 41 of the Terrorism Act 2000.
He remains in custody at a London police station.
