Police have released CCTV images of a violent robbery at a newsagents in Salford.
At around 7.10pm on Thursday 8th January 2015, the victim was working alone in the storeroom of the Skittles Newsagents on The Green, Clifton, when he noticed someone had entered the shop.
As he walked back out towards the counter, a man ran up to him armed with a baton and demanded that he return to the storeroom.
Having been forced back into the storeroom, the victim was beaten with the baton, causing an injury to his left hand.
Meanwhile, a second offender was busy emptying the display cabinet of cigarettes into a blue bag.
The two men swapped roles, with the first offender resuming the theft of the cigarettes while the second offender stood guard at the storeroom door with the baton.
Once the bag was full of cigarettes, the men ran from the shop.
The first offender is described as white, around 5ft 7in tall, about 24-years-old with a medium build. He was wearing a dark grey/blue hoody, blue tracksuit bottoms and a blue gilet.
The second offender is described as white, around 5ft 8in, aged between 20 and 24 years, and of medium build. He was wearing a grey tracksuit and a dark scarf covering his face.
Detective Constable Steve Powell said: “These men targeted a lone shop assistant and used threats and violence to achieve their aims.
“They did not hesitate to use force, causing injury and stealing up to £1,500 of cigarettes during the robbery.
“We ask that anyone who thinks they recognise the men in this video to contact police, anonymously if desired, on the numbers below.”
