The incident occurred at around 8.30pm on Thursday, 1 January, on Manchester’s Piccadilly Station approach road.
PC Jonathan Price, who is leading the investigation, said: “The driver of a car suffered an epileptic seizure and lost control of his vehicle, which mounted the pavement. When it came to a stop outside the station, the confused driver was set upon by a pedestrian who punched and kicked him in the head.
“As more pedestrians gathered around the car and the assault continued, the driver had his black Apple iPhone 4 stolen.
“The driver was taken to hospital where he had a second seizure, believed to have been brought on by the injuries sustained to his head during the assault.â€
Officers believe the men in the images could have vital information about what happened and urge them or anyone who recognises them to come forward to help police with their enquiries.
