Police are investigating an incident reported to them at 11.25pm on Tuesday (27 January) in which a 39-year-old man living in a flat in Elmore Road, Brighton, suffered shotgun wounds.
Three men who went to his address fired a single shot through the door which hit him but did not cause life-threatening injuries. The victim was taken by ambulance to the Royal Sussex County Hospital, Brighton, where he is now being treated.
Armed officers were deployed but the suspects had fled. Detective Inspector Steve Warner, of Brighton CID, said: “We believe this to be an isolated incident and would seek to reassure people in the area that they should not be alarmed.
“Officers have been working throughout the night to follow up several leads which may help us identify those responsible for this attack ”
House-to-house enquiries are being conducted and anyone who may have noticed any suspicious activity, vehicles or people in Elmore Road is asked to to email [email protected] or phone 101, quoting Operation Kenton.
