A man is in police custody after a woman died in Wigan.
At about 2.15pm today, Sunday 1 February 2015, police received a report that a 20-year-old woman had suffered an injury at a house on Cameron Place, Worsley Hall.
Emergency services arrived and the woman was taken to Wigan Hospital where she subsequently sadly died.
A 23-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of murder and remains in police custody for questioning.
A post mortem examination will be carried out to establish the cause of death.
Superintendent Wayne Miller said: â€œIt is always tragic when a young person loses their life suddenly and it is understandable that some people in the community will be concerned.
â€œI want to reassure everyone that we have made a quick arrest following this womanâ€™s death and, at this stage, we are not currently looking for anyone else in connection with this incident.
â€œWe are also appealing for witnesses and for information. Anyone with information is asked to call police on 101 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.â€
