A Catholic priest was today sentenced to three years imprisonment for the sexual abuse of a child more than 30 years ago under Operation Fernbridge; a strand of the wider Operation Fairbank.
Father Anthony McSweeney, 68 (23.01.47), of Old Brighton Road North, Pease Pottage, Crawley, was found guilty on Friday, 27 February at Southwark Crown Court of an offence committed during his time working at Grafton Close children’s home in Hanworth, southwest London.
The offence related to one male victim, aged under 16 when it took place.
