A joint investigation between Lancashire Constabulary and Lancashire Fire and Rescue Service is underway following the death of a man in Blackburn yesterday afternoon.
Officers were called at around 3.35pm on Saturday 4 April to the canal towpath close to the former Moorings Pub on Bolton Road, Blackburn following reports that a man was on fire.
Sadly a man believed to be aged in his late fifties was confirmed deceased at the scene.
Formal identification is yet to take place.
A post mortem examination will take place today and enquiries are on-going into the circumstances of the death which is being treated as unexplained at this stage.
