Merseyside Police are trying to trace the mother of a newborn girl found in Southport last night (Thursday, 16 April).
Emergency services were called at about 6.50pm to Silcock’s Amusement Arcade on Nevill Street, Southport to a report staff had found a baby abandoned inside the disabled toilets.
Police officers attended and took the baby, a new born girl, to Ormskirk Hospital where she is being cared for by staff who have named her April.
She is safe and well.
Officers are now very keen to trace the April’s mother.
The birth appears to have been unsupervised so the woman may need medical help.
Detective Inspector Mike Dalton, said: “Our primary concern is for the health of the girl’s mother.
