Detectives in Coventry are asking for witnesses to come forward after a man was brutally attacked in his own home.
The 85-year-old answered the door to a man claiming to be from Age Concern who addressed the occupant by his name and asked him to remove the door chain.
As he did so the man forced his way in and punched the elderly victim several times causing extensive facial injuries and chest bruising including a broken nose and a cracked rib.
The man was forced to hand over cash and bank cards before being locked in his front room, while the offender searched the property.
The robbery happened around 1.30pm on Thursday 23 April in Northfield Road, Stoke.
Police have spoken to residents in the area and trawled CCTV as well as a forensic examination of the property, but as yet no arrests have been made.
