Detectives from the Homicide and Major Crime Command are now treating the death of a woman, whose body was recovered from the Grand Union Canal on Sunday, 10 May, as murder.
Police believe they know the identity of the woman, however formal identification has yet to take place.
Next of kin have yet to be informed and will be supported by specially trained family liaison officers.
Until next of kin have been spoken to, we cannot confirm any further details about the victim.
A post-mortem examination was carried out on Monday, 11 May at Westminster Mortuary, and concluded late last night.
The results were inconclusive and further tests will be carried out.
Detectives are carrying out house to house enquiries in the local area along the Grand Union Canal and are seizing CCTV.
