At around 7:50am on Wednesday 27 May police were called to an incident on the exit slip road to Boston Avenue on the central expressway of the A533 in Runcorn.
A taxi left the road and collided with a sign.Â The driver – a 60-year-old man – received treatment at the scene and was taken to Whiston Hospital where he sadly died.Â At this stage it is believed that the driver has fallen ill at the wheel of the vehicle.
A man, who was a passenger in the car, sustained minor injuries.
The slip road was closed along with the central expressway towards Bridgewater for about two hours before it reopened....
