A prolific burglar and drug addict has been sentenced to ten years in prison after he robbed and burgled an elderly man in Brockley.
The court heard how In the early hours of Wednesday, 1 October 2014, Stephen Broadfoot, 25 (09.01.1990) of Church Field, Snodland, Kent, gained access to the property of an 83-year-old man in Brockley.
The suspect woke the elderly victim and threatened him with a knife whilst demanding cash.
At this point, a man in his twenties, who was lodging at the property, was alerted by the commotion and confronted Broadfoot who then fled the scene.
The victim provided investigating officers with a detailed description of the suspect and detectives from Lewisham, aware of Broadfoot previous offending pattern, arrested him in Maidstone, Kent, on 4 November 2014.
In his interview with police, Broadfoot admitted burglary but denied using a knife or threatening the victim.
