17-year-old boy from Letchworth was sentenced to three year’s imprisonment at Cambridge Crown Court on Thursday, June 25th after being found guilty of attempted robbery and possession of an imitation firearm.
The offence took place on Friday, April 11, 2014 at 4pm when the teenager, who cannot be named because of legal reasons, entered the Post Office in Willian, approached the counter and pointed an imitation gun at the male shopkeeper, demanding money twice.
At this point, a woman who was in the back office of the store pressed a panic button, which alerted the police to the fact the store was being raided. The teenager then ran from the store and the shopkeeper chased after him but did not catch him up.
The teenager was not successful in stealing any money from the store.
After police investigations, the teenager was arrested on June 16 from his home address.
