Detectives investigating the death of a 21-year-old woman in Pitsea have charged a man with murder.
Jordan Taylor, 22, of Churchill Avenue, Basildon, who is unemployed, was charged late Saturday night and will appear before Basildon Magistrates Court on Monday, July 6.
He will remain in police custody until his court appearance.
A 20-year-old man from Basildon, who was also being questioned, has been released without charge.
Detectives are still at the scene of the murder which took place just before 8.15pm on Friday, July 3.
It happened in Pitsea Hall Lane, near the horse sanctuary at Wat Tyler Park.
A post mortem examination was carried out yesterday (Saturday, July 4) and the provisional cause of the womanâ€™s death was hypovolemic shock caused by multiple stab wounds.
