Lauren Leach, 33, is a mum from Hemel Hempstead. Find out what motivated her to run the London Marathon for us this year.
Lauren in training
I chose Crimestoppers to help, in a small way, to try and stop crime.
I have done two half marathons to help with my training and got a personal best time with both, which was amazing.
I have been following a couple of running groups on Facebook for advice, which has been really helpful. I think the best tip is to listen to your body and push yourself if you can, but take that extra rest day if you feel you need it.
My fundraising target is £1600 and I’m just over half way to that goal. My netball club held a charity tournament, which raised £372. I have also organised things like a quiz.
I will be so nervous on the day and I have asked lots of family and friends to come and support, and make sure they are spread out around the 26.2 miles so I see people I know throughout the whole run. Just seeing everyone at each place cheering me on will give me the boost I need – especially my little boy.
Running the marathon will be a huge achievement and I will definitely be proud of myself.
