Man claimed to have a bomb while wielding an imitation weapon.
A man who was shot by Surrey Police armed response officers in July has pleaded guilty to possession of an imitation gun and making a bomb hoax.
Richard Pell (41) from Knaphill, Woking appeared at Guildford Crown Court on October 11.
Police were called to his address just after 10pm on July 25 following reports a man was armed and was intending to harm himself and others.
Armed response officers attended and shot Pell in the hip. One round was discharged. Pell was taken to St George’s Hospital in Tooting for treatment.
The incident was referred to the IPCC which is still investigating the circumstances of the shooting. A spokeswoman said she expected it to be a matter of “months rather than weeks†before it concluded.
Pell was remanded in custody to re-appear at Guildford Crown Court on November 23 for sentencing.
