Largely due to the efforts of our former Chairman, Bob Bartlett, Surrey Police are forging ahead with the plans for a Memorial Garden to remember our fallen colleagues. Spurred on by Heather Coopers colleagues, serving and former officers have been working togther to get it to where it is now. Here is a summary:
Various sites/locations considered/discounted Site will now be to the rear of the CC’s Lawn;
Need for flexibility in order to add names when required AND possibility that Surrey HQ will move or no longer be a Force HQ;
Somewhere for family/colleagues to go to and remember/reflect on lives lost;
Garden will remember serving police/civilian colleagues whose lives were lost during their service.
There may be more but I can update this as we go along.

How can you help?
The picture is of a design created by Merrist Wood College Guildford. The Garden will be approximately 9m by 9m
ACO Clare Davies has asked for consultation and I promised to consult on the Blog to see what retired colleagues would like to see.
She specifically asked for opinions on:
The type and colour of paving and floor covering. For example, would you like to see the colouring mirroring the colours of the Surrey Police badge within the flooring?
What type of trellis/fencing would you like to see?
The type of shrubs/plants you would favour
How to display the names of our fallen colleagues
Do we want a memorial stone?
Do we want a sundial?
What else do we want to display e.g. memorial to Heather Cooper, blue lamps from the old police stations.
I have deliberately not included my views here and would welcome feedback from all of you out there.
