Pair are hospitalised following a horrifying incident during a routine stop.
A police officer is being treated for a suspected fractured skull after he was callously run down in a horrifying hit-and-run incident during a routine stop.
Greater Manchester Police has confirmed that two officers had pulled over a car travelling at excess speed in the northern Harpurhey area at around 10:50pm on February 24.
But when they left their police vehicle to speak to the driver the suspect car – believed to be a red Hyundai – went into reverse and collided with them.
A GMP spokeswoman confirmed that the second officer had suffered a fractured wrist in the collision. Both men, believed to be PCs, were taken to hospital.
She said that officer with the fractured skull remained in a stable condition. It is believed that he had also suffered a bleed to the brain following the incident although his injures are not believed to be life threatening.
She told PoliceOracle.com: “Two men were arrested in the Haslingden area of Lancashire on suspicion of attempted murder. A car has been recovered for forensic analysis.â€
